Flying with children – overview of airline rates

Fliegen mit Kindern

If you have ever flown with children, you have probably asked yourself what items you can bring onto the airplane and how much it will cost?

Guidelines and fees for special luggage items vary between airlines. Every airline will require that children above 2 years of age sit in their own seat. Parents of children younger than 2 years can decide whether they want to purchase an extra seat for their child. The return flight is the determinative date: if the child is under the age of 2 on the date of the first flight, but will be 2 years old on the date of the return flight, the child must fly in his or her own seat. Tickets for young children are usually cheaper than for adults.
